The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant (MNȚR) invites you to celebrate a landmark edition of its most beloved spring event. Between February 25 and March 1, 2026, the museum’s courtyard and the Horia Bernea Studio will transform into a vibrant universe of creativity for the 25th anniversary of the Mărțișor Fair.

For over a generation, this event has successfully challenged early 20th-century ethnographic predictions that the custom would eventually fade away.

The Infinite Shapes of a Living Tradition What makes the Mărțișor Fair a truly unmissable story is the sheer diversity of techniques and styles on display. From traditional materials like silk, wool, and cotton to unconventional choices such as watch gears, 3D printer filaments, and computer keys, the fair recontextualizes this UNESCO-protected heritage for the modern world.

Visitors can wander through a digital-meets-traditional landscape where ceramic flowers and clay angels sit alongside “Minecraft-faces,” memes, and 3D-printed characters. This creative explosion is fueled by a diverse community of participants—from students and artists to seasoned craftsmen, designers, and architects—all contributing to a unique urban mythology inspired by peasant roots.

Beyond the Talisman: A Cultural and Humanitarian Hub The fair is more than just a marketplace; it is a complex socio-cultural puzzle. This edition continues the museum’s long-standing tradition of supporting humanitarian causes, hosting schools and organizations that provide aid to children with disabilities and disadvantaged groups.

For those seeking a complete sensory experience, the fair’s culinary corner remains a staple attraction. Guests can indulge in natural, artisanal products from across Romania, including gingerbread, homemade pastries from Bukovina, honey, and healing teas from Dâmbovița. Whether you are looking for a simple red-and-white thread or a contemporary design piece, the fair remains a sanctuary of authenticity in the heart of Bucharest.

Practical Information for Visitors The event is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Access is through 3 Monetăriei Street. Tickets are priced at 20 lei for adults and 10 lei for retirees, with significant discounts (5 lei) for students and individuals with disabilities. Each ticket remains valid for the entire day, granting access to all museum exhibitions.
